Introduction

Pierre Fabre, a leading pharmaceutical company with a global presence, sought to improve their order processing efficiency. Their current system, the RESCO field service app, lacked the desired level of user-friendliness and intuitiveness. This case study details the development of a custom solution within Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Sales Module) designed to address these challenges.

Project Objectives

The primary objective of this project was to develop a custom solution for Dynamics 365 that would make Pierre Fabre’s order process: 

  • Intuitive: Easy to learn and navigate for sales representatives. 
  • Seamless: Streamlined workflow for efficient order processing. 
  • Simple: User-friendly interface with minimal complexity. 
  • Efficient: Optimized functionalities to minimize processing time and errors.

  • Administrator/system customization access to both Sandbox and Live environments within Microsoft Dynamics 365. 
  • Shield UI developer licenses. 

Solution Design

The custom solution focuses on enhancing the Sales Module within Dynamics 365, particularly the Order entity and related functionalities. Here’s a breakdown of the key features: 

Customer Selection:

Read-only fields display customer and customer status information. 

Loyalty Products:

Upon screen load, a pre-defined criteria fetches loyalty products from Dynamics CRM using Fetch XML. These products are then displayed in a grid control with options for selection and quantity adjustment. The system automatically calculates credit value based on selected loyalty products. 

Free Products:

Similar to loyalty products, a defined criteria retrieves free products upon screen load. These are displayed in a grid control for selection with functionalities to add, remove, and view product details. 

Order Summary Screen:

This screen provides a consolidated view of the entire order, including: 

  • Selected products (regular, loyalty, and free) displayed in a read-only grid. 
  • Shipping method selection with an option for free shipping and a mandatory reason field if chosen. 
  • Payment method selection with the ability to enter payment details. 
Order Submission & Copying:

Users can submit new orders with all entered details. Additionally, a feature allows them to search for existing orders and copy them for a new customer, saving time on repetitive order entries. 

Product Selection Filtering:

The system offers filtering options to display: 

  • Top 20 Products: A list of the most frequently ordered products. 
  • Most Common Customer Orders: Products most commonly ordered by a specific customer.
